JUNE: Coach Burnham's Tip of the Month

One of the best ways to improve your serve is to improve your throw!  

Not kidding.  If you can throw a baseball or a football you will have a great serving motion.  If you struggle to throw a ball overhead (underhanded doesn’t count for this) it’s probably because you didn’t play football or baseball or softball.  Thank goodness there is an easy fix.  Grab a tennis ball and throw it back and forth with someone.  You need to do this more than once a year.  Try to throw the ball a couple times a week. You could even just throw it at a wall.  Try to step with your opposite leg, throw and then let your dominate leg come through after you release the ball.  This should be a similar motion to your serve.
